Thankfulness in 2020

By Sierra Camuto (Beta Eta, Florida State University)

As the year is winding down, it is the time of year when people typically reflect on the days past and show gratitude for those they are thankful for. 2020 has proved to be a year no one will forget. Through the trials and tribulations of this year, the importance of the connections people have with one another is very prevalent. Whether it is through a text message, letter, email, FaceTime or phone call, do not forget to take the time to share your appreciation for others. Big or small, that appreciation could have a great impact.

When reflecting on this year, I have a lot to be thankful for. From being offered the chapter consultant position to virtually visiting and working with chapters across the country, this year has provided so many influential experiences. Being a consultant is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I would like to recognize people who positively influence my life through this position.

The collegians are resilient, energetic and hardworking. Chapter leaders have remained adaptable and continuously aim to provide their chapter members with the Real. Strong. Women.® Experience. Their chapters are so lucky to have them as leaders. From navigating virtual formal recruitment to discussing miscellaneous chapter operations, I am grateful to work with them every day.

The volunteers of this organization are inspiring. They serve as role models and resources to so many women. Their dedication and willingness to help chapters succeed is unmatched. It is an honor to meet them and learn about their personal Alpha Chi Omega experiences, as well as see the support they provide firsthand.

The headquarters staff members are incredibly hardworking. They are always there to assist and address any questions or concerns that arise. I am not sure what I would do without the chapter consultant team. The team is filled with such thoughtful and genuine women. I am eternally grateful for the tight bond we have with each other.

This job is truly like no other. I always admired the chapter consultants I had the opportunity to work with and can only hope I am able to have the same influence. Through this role, I am responsible for a variety of tasks, and I am gaining a vast amount of knowledge and ample experience that can be applied in future endeavors. Being a chapter consultant provides an endless number of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

I will be forever grateful to Alpha Chi Omega for providing me with the greatest experiences and everlasting friendships.
